Maternity Pics with my Bestie!

As I noted in an earlier post, my best friend, Kalei, is also expecting her 2nd child in September. Our due dates are just 10 days apart!  Even cooler, her due date is on Noah's birthday!  It has been so much fun going through this pregnancy together.

We recently took a few maternity pics together and they turned out really cute.  I was even able to join her at her professional photo shoot last weekend for a few shots. When we were talking about it, we weren't sure I was gonna make it that far into the pregnancy, but so far our baby girl seems happy to stay where she is!

No more diapers for Noah!

We started potty training Noah a few weekends ago and he has really gotten the hang of it!! We did an intense “no diapers” weekend and in the first week he had mastered going “pee” on the potty and telling us when he had to go.  He even wakes up in the middle of night and says he needs to go potty so he wakes up dry!!  Our big boy!  We can’t believe how fast he has picked it up.  He is still figuring out "#2", but we are working on it.

When he first started using the potty, he would yell, "Bye Bye Potty!!" when he flushed the toilet!  He also says, "no more there!" when he is all done.  So funny!  He uses the big potty, so this week, we got him a little stool to stand on and we are working on teaching him how to get on and off the potty all by himself (right now, he tells us when he has to go and we take him to the potty and put him on it). This skill will come in handy when his "sissy" is here!

We are so proud of our big boy!

All ready for baby!

Since we were surprised with Noah's arrival a month early, Wes was working on the chair rail/crown molding in Noah’s nursery the night we went to the hospital.  The crib and dresser were still in boxes when we brought Noah home.  With the house a mess and Noah’s room not at all put together, it was not exactly the welcoming environment I had planned for our baby.   Thus, this time around, I was determined to have everything ready for our baby girl!

I had a lot of fun (and help) planning her nursery. Using her sweet birdie bedding as our inspiration, my friend Annie painted the mini birdhouses and canvas artwork, Grandma Jan and Auntie Renee painted the pink and cream walls, my designer friend Krista helped with the furniture layout, rug and decal selection and Wes put it all together!  My mom knitted her the adorable pink knit "dank" hanging over the crib rail.  Noah calls it "sissy's dank."

Her tiny clothes and soft blankets are laundered, Noah's infant car seat is cleaned and we washed/put out all the baby toys again. My friend Ang even helped me pick which outfit to bring our little darling home in!  Aside from framing a few of the awesome maternity pics Kalei took for us, packing our hospital bag and cleaning up the house, I'd say we are ready for baby! We even have Noah mostly potty trained (but that is a whole post in itself)!

Maternity Photos!

Last week, we had some family/maternity photos taken compliments of my BFF, the very talented Kalei Rupp!  The photos turned out so wonderful!  I picked out a few of my favorites to share below.  These photos will forever hold a special place in my heart, as they are our last family pictures as a family of three.

Showered with Love

Our good friends, Amber and Annie, threw a baby shower for Kalei and I to shower us and our little ones with love and good wishes.  Amber's home was beautifully decorated for the festivities and the food was delicious!   There was even a pink and green candy buffet!   We commented that Amber and Annie should start their own party planning business together.  The shower was attended by our close friends and family members, which was intimate and oh so perfect!

All the food was sooo yummy!!

The candy bar!

Presents for baby girl!  (Kalei made this pretty bib for her!)

Amber's sister made us these darling diaper cakes.... in my excitement, I took the tulle off mine and about 20 seconds later, my beautiful diaper cake was all over the floor.  classic Cynthia.

Amber (14 weeks), Kalei (33 weeks), me (34 weeks) and Annie (mom of 4 month old Bram)!  What in the world is in the water with all these babies being born/on the way?!
me and my sis Renee.  Renee joked she was not going to drink anything at the party, since apparently pregnancy is "going around."

Camping with Grandma and Grandpa!

A few weekends ago, Noah went camping with Grandma and Grandpa Oistad! On Saturday morning, Grandma and Grandpa rolled up to our house in the big "Bus" to pick up Noah and take him to Soldotna for a "grandparent weekend" with their friends and their friends' grandkids.  It was Noah's first weekend trip away from home.  We missed him lots, but he did really great the whole time and had a lot of fun!

Excited to go for a ride in Grandpa and Grandma's "bus"!

Picking out the perfect rock to throw in the water!

Climbing trees with Grandpa is fun!

This worm trike was pretty fun too

Out on the boat! These gloves look funny.

At first Noah didn't want to put on his life jacket.  He wanted to "go home" and ran "back to the bus".  But after getting out on the boat, he had a great time!

thanks Grandpa and Grandma for a great camping weekend!
When Grandma and Grandpa brought Noah home on Sunday night, he ran up to the front door and rang the doorbell.  I opened it, Noah's face lit up like the sun and he yelled "Grandma, you found her! You found MOMMY!"  Then he lept into my arms and gave me the world's best hug!  My cup runneth over.
