Daddy Night

There are some nights when Noah is all about mom and some nights when he is all about dad.  Tonight was a daddy night and it was so cute to watch my two guys have a blast together.  Enjoy!

2 years, 1 month

Noah seems to have turned from a toddler to a little boy all in one month!  He is growing up so fast, sometimes I just want to pause time and make it stop for a bit.  But, it has been fun watching all the new things he learns each month.

One of the biggest transitions this month is that Noah is now in a toddler bed!  We had been hesitant to move him out of his crib because he had been sleeping so good in there. But one night a few weeks ago, he discovered how to skillfully crawl out of his crib (like a ninja in the night) and he just walked into our bedroom at 4am!!  Wes and I looked at each other, and just said, "Uh oh, it's a whole new world."  The next night we took the front rail off of Noah's crib to convert it into a toddler bed.  The next few nights were, shall we say interesting?  Noah didn't want to stay on his bed.  When we would go to check on him in the night, we would find him curled under his favorite blanket in the middle of his bedroom floor or in his closet.  But now he seems to stay in his bed more and is adjusting really well.

Noah started speech therapy in September and it seems to really be helping his talking.  His therapist, Tonya, is so awesome with him and he gets really excited to see her each week.  New words this month are: water, oh no, stop, go, on, help, chair, hat, duck, beep-beep, fish, milk, bike, door, in, up, down.  Noah also loves to count everything he sees "1-2-3-4-5"!  He knows numbers 0-9 and letters A-Z.  It is so fun to watch him point out letters when we are out and about.  Once we were at a restaurant and he saw a big "R" for the restroom sign and he yells out "R!!!" out of nowhere.

His motor skills have always been good, but now he has added speed.  Each night, when it is time for his bath, he grabs Wes and I (he likes all three of us to go up together) by the hand and takes us up the stairs.  Then he drops our hands and runs as fast as little legs can to get a washcloth out of his closet!!  I think he tries to improve on his time each night as I watch him fly around corners with my hands over my eyes.

Noah is also obsessed with light switches.  He loves to turn light switches on and off and then watch to see which light responds to the switch.  He is fascinated by this game and will play for hours (if allowed) Maybe he will be an electrician or an electrical engineer when he gets big!

Noah's love of cars continues.  He loves his small toy cars, but also loves to get behind the wheel of our parked cars to "drive" and push all the buttons.  As we pass cars on the road, he excitedly yells out, "CAR" or "BUS"!!   When we found a cute toddler race car driver costume, we thought it would be perfect for Halloween.  However, as soon as he saw it, he cried, grabbed the costume and tried to hide it from us in the closet!!  guess the love only goes to cars and not clothes.

A few random pics from the month...

Let's go kayaking!

Can't wait to get this baby in the water!

"Blast off and orbit in space" is still one of Noah's favorite games!

Here's a pic Noah "blasting off " when he was just 8 months old!

Fun with props

Sometimes Noah likes to try on Mr. Potato Head's stuff.  His tiny hat, his mustache, his glasses....

these glasses are too small!  I can only fit them on my chin.

But mommy's sunglasses fit! (kinda)

let me just put these on here...there! I'm a Rock Star!

Now I can look up at the lights!

Fixing the car with my power drill

Running around the house "fixing" stuff.
Noah fixed the couch, fixed the floor, fixed the air...

Date Night!

In everyday life, there may be some things you may take for granted.  However, once you have a baby, one thing you don't ever take for granted is "date night"!!  Going out to dinner together (without taking turns holding/entertaining our rambunctious 2 year old) is a real treat in our book.

The night's challenge:  Wes had a $25 off coupon for one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, but the catch was that you had to spend $50 total (not including alcohol).  We knew it was going to be tough racking up $50 in food, but we were up to the challenge.  So we shared appetizers, iced teas, steak fajitas and a combo plate!  It was a LOT of food which meant lots of yummy leftovers for our lunches the next day.

The best part was when Wes slipped a silver box in front of me while we were at the restaurant.  He had asked me to check something out by the door and then put it in front of me when I turned my head.  I have to admit it took me about 20 seconds to notice it as I was focused on my hubby (and the delicious chips and salsa)!  hee hee

I opened it up and inside was a beautiful David Yurman neclace!!
Such a sweet surprise!

We wrapped up the night by grabbing a movie from Blockbuster (after Wes had to re-apply for membership since neither of us have been there for about 5 years!).  I'm pretty sure the last Blockbuster card I had was from when I was 16 and I had to co-sign with my parents!  We had to chuckle when we saw that in all those years they still have not upgraded their cards from the old school laminated paper cards.

After we got home, Grandma Jan was just finishing reading Noah a bedtime story.  Noah saw us and ran to give us both huge hugs and smiles.  Melted our hearts.  We are so blessed to have one another, our sweet Noah and two sets of amazing grandparents close by so we can go out on date night!

Weekend Play Dates

This past weekend, Noah had lots of fun playing with his buddies, Emma, Aiden and Nathen!  We are so fortunate to live so close to good friends which means lots of impromptu play dates for the kiddos.  Emma and Noah played at the elementary school playground where they will go to school together in a few years.  Disclaimer:  You'll have to excuse some of the blurry pictures; Wes took our fancy camera on a moose hunt with his dad last weekend which left me with our old camera which does not have a fast shutter speed. Busy toddlers require fast cameras.

Noah loves to go down the slide!
Katie and Miss Emma met us at the playground for a play date!

Emma and Noah share a love for throwing rocks in puddles!

Noah climbed up on Aiden's chair to help him finish his dinner
so they could go play together.

Then he plopped down on lil' Aiden's lap and decided to start playing cars.
Too funny!

(aka The Toddler Zone for now)

Nathen liked the little rocking horse (this was Wes' toy when he was a baby)

 Happy Aiden

Just for Ang

My good friend Ang reminded me that I haven't posted anything new in a while. :)  So Ang ... this post is for you.  A few months ago, our two families had a blast at the Anchorage Fire Department Open House!  The weather was great and all our boys had so much fun exploring the cool fire department stuff.

At first, Noah was most interested in playing orange traffic cones with dad

Daddy's voice sounds funny in there

But then Noah found this fun four wheeler and got behind the wheel... watch out Anchorage.  The boys took a vote and we want one of these!
