Happy Halloween!

With Noah being a little older and Callie joining our family, this year's Halloween was a ton of fun and filled with lots of festivities! A few weekends before Halloween, Aiden, Nathen, Bodi, Bram, Kendra and Aaron came over for bag decorating, mini pumpkin painting, pizza making and a good ol fashioned candy hunt in the backyard.  On Friday we took Noah to a Halloween carnival at a local elementary school with some friends.  On Halloween night a bunch of our neighbors came over for some trick-or-treating around the neighborhood!
Kendra did a great job decorating her bag!

Callison's Baptism

On October 23rd, Rev. Martin Eldred baptised Callie at Joy Lutheran Church.  It was a beautiful ceremony attended by Callie's Godparents (Kalei, Phil and Renee), both sets of grandparents, Al, the Zmudas (and their 6-day old baby Hazel), the Lawsons, Charlene Brooks, and Wes' Godparents.  It meant so much to us to have our closest friends and family there celebrating with us.

Fun fact: The beautiful handmade white lace baptismal gown that Callie wore has been in the Oistad family since 1912 and she is the 27th baby Oistad to be baptised in it.  Noah was #26.

Pastor said that Callie won the award for best behaved baby during her baptism.  She slept and smiled the whole time and didn't cry once.  On the other hand, her big bro Noah was running around the alter during the ceremony, but we are giving him the "he's three" excuse on this one.  After the service, Grandma and Grandpa Oistad hosted a delicious bruch at their house to celebrate.  It was a great day!

Callison is Two Months Old!

Oh my goodness... we blinked and our newborn baby girl turned two months old!!  How in the world did that happen?!  Our sweet Callison is the perfect addition (and completion) to our family and we have loved getting to know her the past two months.  We know we are biased, but we swear she gets more beautiful every single day!  She has dark brown hair, blue eyes and the cutest little face.  We think her pretty blue eyes may end up being her permanent eye color, but it is still a little early to tell.  Her daddy, Grandma Jan and Gong Gong all have blue eyes so she has got a 37.5% chance. :)

Callie is really great at holding her head up and can arch her head way back to look around and take in the world.  She still sleeps quite a bit during the day but is more and more alert each day.  She has a long wake period from around 8-11pm each night which is good because then she will sleep later in the middle of the night, but we are working on pushing that back to 7-10pm so mom and dad can get to bed earlier.

Each week, she is getting better at sleeping at night.  Usually we get one long 4-5 hour stretch of sleep out of her.  Sometimes she can get fussy during the "witching hour" at night, but through trial and error, we have learned she calms down immediately with the magical combo of loud white noise, her paci and rocking in her car seat/being held upright.  At night we turn on her sleep sheep, the bassinet rain sound and a fan in our room to make a bunch of white noise to lull her to sleep. It is pretty loud in our bedroom, but she LOVES it. When that isn't enough to entice her to sleep we have started putting her in her car seat so she can be upright.  I am sure that I am going to pay for all these sleep tricks later, but I am just hoping she grows out of it as she gets older and her little stomach develops.  We aren't sure, but we think she might have a little acid reflux which is why she seems so uncomfortable laying flat on her back.

Callie also started smiling this month which absolutely melts our hearts.  I love that toothless grin that babies have!  So precious.

Here are a few of our favorite pics from the past two months with our Callie girl.
